Donegal Walking Escape

This Autumn Donegal Boardwalk Resort have partnered with Hugh and the Eco Atlantic Adventures team to create and curate a Donegal walking escape, perfect for autumn adventure. There are two options available; a three night midweek walking escape and a two night weekend break. 

Donegal Midweek Meander 

This three night escape offers the unique opportunity to experience a walking holiday in Donegal through the eyes of a local guide. The Donegal walking escape includes two days guided walking in the hills of Donegal, finishing along some of Donegal’s most spectacular Wild Atlantic Way beaches, whilst staying in a cosy lodge at Donegal Boardwalk Resort. We invite you to unwind by the fire in a Coastal or Sand Dune lodge after a day of exploring the beauty of the surrounding countryside.  

Day 1 

Meeting at Portsalon Beach Car Park for bus transfer to the starting point. The guided walk will take you over 16 kilometres to Knockalla Mountain to Knockalla Beach with Spectacular View of Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay. Finishing along Knockalla Beach (voted 2nd most beautiful beach in the world by National Geographic).  

Day 2 

Meeting at Donegal Board Walk. This guided walk is 18 kilometres, over Lough Salt Mountain offering views of Sheephaven Bay to Melmore Head, Fanad and Inishowen. Leading you to dip your toes in the sea at Tra More Beach Downings. 

Inclusions: 

  • Three night stay in a lodge at Donegal Boardwalk Resort 
  • Two days of guided walking through the beauty of Donegal 
  • Bus transfers to the start on day 1  
  • Complimentary Broadband 
  • Complimentary Car Parking 

Walking Boots, Walking Gear, Rain Jacket and Rucksack are Essential. Runners and Jeans are not suitable for this activity. Guests will require their own fluids and packed lunch for each of the walks.  

Weekend Wanderer Donegal

Enjoy a weekend escape to the Hills of Donegal. Based in the luxurious Donegal Board Walk Resort overlooking Sheephave Bay. Enjoying a Day Exploring the Hills and Trails above Glen Village and stopping of for a pint in the OLD Glen Bar and finishing the day on the Golden Sands of Tramore Beach with views of Horn Head in the distance.

  • One days of guided walking through the beauty of Donegal  
  • Complimentary Broadband 
  • Complimentary Car Parking
