We invite you to discover Donegal, taking your adventure off the beaten track this winter. We may be biased, however, we believe that Carrigart, Donegal holds equal appeal as a winter destination. Donegal’s stunning, remote beauty offers mountain views, forest walks and unspoilt beaches.
It is no secret that we love to welcome families to Donegal Boardwalk Resort. We do it all, whether for an autumn break or a winter escape! When holidaying at the resort, there are many activities for families to choose from, all a convenient drive away. Here, we have included some of our favourite places and recommendations for a great family day out in Donegal. All you need is a flask of hot tea and a packed lunch. This will take the chill from the air as you explore.
Visit Gáinne Mór Alpacas in Donegal
Gáinne Mór Alpacas is located in Sheephaven Bay in Downings, close to Donegal Boardwalk Resort. We are big fans of a day out at Gáinne Mór. It offers visitors the unique opportunity to walk their very own alpaca on their farmland for a 60-minute walk.
They also offer guided farm visits by appointment. The nature of the Alpaca is gentle and curious. This makes walking with Alpacas enjoyable and entertaining with their quirky individual characters. The walking route takes in stunning views of the surrounding area of Sheephaven Bay, Melmore, Horn Head and Muckish Mountain. This is a great opportunity to learn more about these wonderful animals and their individual personalities. For details on winter opening times and further information their website.
